Nara Chandra Babu Naidu, often called (CBN) is the Ex. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Chief of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He has been the longest-serving Leader of the Opposition, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He currently serves as the Leader of the Opposition (LOP) in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly since the 2019 Assembly Elections. CBN is also known for his outstanding contribution to making Hyderabad an IT hub and bringing in many other things. Mr. Naidu turned Hyderabad into a technological hub as, particularly, the Gachibowli area of Hyderabad looks like a silicon valley of India, and as per reports, Hyderabad is likely to surpass Bangalore in IT production very soon. Apart from this, the Financial District was formed under CBN's leadership. Also, the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad, was brought to Hyderabad by CBN.

He also worked to make Amravati (Andhra Pradesh's capital, announced by CBN) even a better version of Hyderabad during his rule between 2014 to 19 in AP. He would like to take forward this ambitious project if it returns to power in 2024. Mr. Naidu has won several awards, including I.T. Indian of the Millennium from India Today, South Asian of the Year by Time Asia, Business Person of the Year by The Economic Times, and membership in the World Economic Forum's Dream Cabinet.

He got active in politics as a student leader of the Youth Congress in Chandragiri, near Tirupati. Following the Emergency, he formally joined Congress in 1975 and supported Sanjay Gandhi closely. Later, CBN became a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Chandragiri constituency in 1978 at the age of 28. He became the youngest MLA and the youngest minister in Andhra Pradesh. Later, he was appointed as the state cinematography minister in T. Anjaiah's government. As the A.P.'s cinematography minister, Naidu came in contact with N. T. Rama Rao, a famous Telugu film star, in 1980. He married Bhuvaneswari, N.T. Rama Rao's daughter in 1981.

In 1982, N. T. Rama Rao formed the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), won the A.P. assembly polls held in 1983, and became CM. CBN, his son-in-law, was still in the Congress Party, and he even dared contest against his father-in-law, NTR, and his party - TDP. But Naidu lost in the elections as an MLA from Chandragiri Constituency and immediately joined TDP in 1983.

In 1995, CBN staged a coup against then Chief Minister N.T Rama Rao and succeeded him as the CM of Andhra Pradesh. After that, CBN served as the Chief Minister until 2004; however, he failed to retain his power in the state and lost the power to Congress-led YSR Reddy in 2004. He was elected again in 2014 in alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party, won 102 out of 175 seats, and lost power to Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP in the 2019 assembly elections. Thus, Mr. Naidu is the Longest serving Chief Minister for the combined state of Andhra Pradesh. He also has the honor of being the longest-serving Leader of the opposition and Eight times MLA.

1975:

He became a close supporter of Youth Congress presidents Sanjay Gandhi and Narala Saikiran.

1978:

At the age of 28, he was elected as a member of the Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly (MLA) for the Chandragiri constituency on a Congress ticket. Also, he was appointed as cinematography and technical education minister. He was the youngest MLA and Minister in the cabinet.

1980:

Naidu came in contact with N. T. Rama Rao, popularly known as NTR, and became NTR's son-in-law. NTR formed the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1982, but Naidu stayed in Congress (I).

1983:

Naidu was defeated by a TDP candidate Venkatarama Naidu Medasani in Chandragiri by around 19,000 votes. Naidu joined the TDP right after the defeat.

1984:

Naidu was appointed as the TDP's General Secretary, and after that, he began playing an essential role in the TDP. He thwarted Congress' attempt to oust NTR from the position of Chief Minister; after that, Naidu gained NTR's confidence but did not hold any state's portfolio from 1984-1989.

1989:

He contested and won from Kuppam Assembly Seat and has consecutively won the seat since 1989. However, Congress regained power in this election, so Rao's led TDP and CBN had to sit in the opposition. He then moved on to serve as a party coordinator for TDP from 1989-1994.

1994:

He contested the assembly elections from Kuppam and won against R. Gopinath with a margin of 56588 votes. He became the State's Finance and Revenue Minister in N. T. Rama Rao's cabinet.

1995:

Naidu managed to secure supreme power in the TDP. And, then Chandrababu Naidu was sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on 1 September 1995.

1999:

CBN again won from the Kuppam assembly. However, TDP was defeated in the 2004 elections, and CBN stepped down from the CM post. He was appointed as Leader of the Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

2004:

2009:

He was again elected from Kuppam. He defeated M. Subramanyam Reddy of the Congress Party and continued as the Opposition Leader in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

2014:

After Telangana state was carved out from United Andhra Pradesh in 2014, Naidu became the chief minister of the reorganized A.P. He took oath as the first Chief Minister of the newly formed or reorganized state of Andhra Pradesh on 8 June 2014 and lost power to Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSRCP in 2019 assembly elections.
