Telangana Govt's proposed bid for Vizag Plant
brews tension with Andhra Pradesh

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) ruled Telangana Govt. reported a decision to bid on the Vizag Steel Plant (VCP) via its Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) while alleging that the BJP-ruled Centre's Govt. is trying to privatize the steel plant has begun a row in both the Telugu speaking neighboring states.
Whereas Andhra Pradesh's Govt. ruled by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), came under attack from opposition parties such as TDP and BJP for doing nothing to stop the privatization of the Vizag Steel Plant, opposition in Telangana State, especially the BJP questioned the KCR Govt.'s move to use funds of Telangana State into another state sparked a debate.
Telangana BJP President and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar alleged that BRS had set aside the core ideals of Telangana for CM KCR's "selfish political interests." "Telangana's money will be used for Andhra Pradesh's vizag steel plant," he said.
AP's Industry Minister, Gudivada Amarnath, released a statement that YSRCP is opposed to privatization. "There is no official statement from the Telangana government on this matter. We have seen only speculations in the media," the Minister said.
On the other hand, BRS leaders defended the move. "When Gujarat MDC bid and get mines in Odisha, why can't Telangana bid for Vizag Steel Plant for which even Telangana people lost their lives fighting for the same," asked BRS party leader Krishank Manne, who is also Chairperson of Telangana State's Mineral Development Corporation (TSMDC).
